Modelling in 3mm Scale

The Society That Caters For All 3mm Modellers
For over forty years the 3mm Society has supported the efforts of all modellers working in the scale of 3mm: 1 foot. In the early 1970s virtually al the trade support for 3mm (then known as "TT") lapsed leaving the Society to foster and generate a lasting interest in the scale. The success of its endeavours can be measured by the activities of the Society today. It is leading the way forward for modellers to work to finescale standards and to produce models in 3mm that are the equal in quality to those in other scales. Coupled with this the Society continues to supply spares and secondhand items for those working with Tri-ang TT systems.
Working In The Scale That Is Just Right - Smaller than 00 : Larger than N
With increasing demands on the space in our houses, the Society is finding more and more people wanting to work in a scale that allows plenty of detail to be modelled and a decent size layout to be constructed.
Offering So Much
With over 30 active area groups throughout the country and a large worldwide membership the Society is thriving. It produces a high quality magazine and an informative newsletter offering help and advice.
The Future
If you are starting out in modelling, or returning after an absence and like the scale, don’t be mislead into thinking that 3mm is dead, it is not. It is true you cannot go into a shop and buy a ready made vehicle (although even that state of affairs may change before too long); 3mm is truly a modellers scale since you have to do it all yourself, but a full range of products is available to Society members from rail to rolling stock in both traditional steam and modem image. Many well known firms supply the Society including Parkside, Comet, Slaters, Ratio, Cambrian, Worsley Works, 3SMR and others such as Branchlines have been encouraged by the recent success of 3mm to enter the retail market with some of their range.
