The APRIL Group Meeting.....

.....was held at Fazakerley. The top level of Marston Magna with Chelford was running but experienced a recurrence of the rail alignment problems occasioned by a recent roof refurbishment. The vibration of putting on a new roof an fitting two double-glazed roof lights brought about rail end breakages and soldered joint breakdown. A warning in case anyone is thinking of having a new roof!

Some 48 hours later and full running has now been re-established and two Class 31s and a ten-coach train have mastered the climb from Level Two to Three, up Marston Bank, with no problem whatsoever.

Level Two now gets the same treatment to bring it up to passenger standards and installation of the new control panel will require a weekend TIII. Level One, with Whitchurch Approach and five-car Class 110 DMU in holding siding, is just visible at the bottom left-hand corner of the photo.

PC Rail's Trent and Crewe PSBs were tried out on the desktop simulator as a diversion for some and a chance was taken to view another 'local' steam heritage video of the Bradford area, during the 1960's.

The next Group Meeting, scheduled for July 12th; details on the Group Meetings page.
